DPW Dannie needs help after a horrible accident!
Donation protected
Our beloved friend and DPW co-worker needs our help! Dannie came into DPW (Department of Public Works, Burning Man) as a volunteer this year. She was eager to learn everything she could about her position and department. But unfortunately, this dream was cut short.
Early Tuesday morning, during the event, Dannie was catapulted from a swing and was life-flighted via helicopter to Reno Renown Hospital. She suffered a fractured skull, multiple broken ribs, a broken pelvis, fractured vertebrae (requiring emergency surgery), a lacerated liver and a punctured lung. Anyone who knows Dannie knows she is an absolute gem. Anyone who knows her knows Dannie will go above and beyond for those around her and always has an open ear for those in need. Despite these challenging times, Dannie remains incredibly positive and is an inspiration to us all. She currently cannot walk but is making daily moves to regain the ability. She is out of the ICU but is still in the hospital with an unknown release date.
Hospital bills and helicopter life flight costs are piling up and up. Unfortunately being a volunteer, she isn't receiving any financial help from the org, and her dear mother is retired and unable to provide much more than undying love and support. In addition, Dannie will require extensive physical therapy after returning home to Michigan. So again, Dannie needs our help with these costs.
Below are X-Rays from her spinal repair surgery.
Please, anything helps! DPW wants (and needs) Dannie back in 2023!
(Just no more dang swings!!)
