Help the DeLong family

On September 4, 2021 our lives forever changed. A 21 year old driver operating his fathers truck t-boned us. It was 9pm, dark, and raining. The driver of the truck didn’t have his headlights on and I didn’t see him until I was midway into the turn and by then it was too late. The other driver was found to be at fault and was cited. Our situation has become hopeless, which has led me to seek any help you can give.
My husband suffered a debilitating injury- fracture to his C2 vertebrae in his neck. He has been in a neck brace for over two months, and has not been cleared to return to work. This has led to financial hardship that hurts us more as time goes on. Our children have been left traumatized. Our family vehicle was totaled. We have no other vehicle and cannot afford a replacement at the moment. Our lawyer tried everything. We have no legal recourse. The other driver was not insured under his father's policy, so the entire claim was denied by the insurance company. Even our own insurance company is covering nothing, citing that we did not have the optional uninsured motorist provision in our policy. If we filed a lawsuit, it would not help anything. It would involve money and time that we don’t have and the most we could get is a garnishment against the negligent driver, who has no job and is judgment proof.
We are in dire need of another vehicle and a bit of help to get through the next couple of months. Christmas is coming. If you could find it in your heart to donate, anything at all would be a huge help and it would mean the world to us. Thank you.
