Cancer Treatment in Germany
Donation protected
In February of this year, 4 weeks after giving birth to my first child I received the most devastating news imaginable that I had a tumour growing inside my spinal cord, hitting my brain stem.
Not only that but following more scans I was told that there were two more tumours lower down in my spine.
At the end of February I underwent an invasive 11 hour surgery in Beaumont hospital to try and remove one of the tumours. Post surgery I was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancerous tumour, not often found in adults.
Recovery from an intramedullary tumour resection is extremely challenging to say the least. I had to learn how to walk again and my upper body was affected the most. As hard as the physical side was and continues to be, not being able to see my new born baby for three weeks while I was in hospital was heartbreaking. When I got home I couldn't hold, pick up or feed her and honestly this was emotionally devastating and the hardest thing I've ever gone through.
Following this I needed months of intensive rehabilitation all the while knowing I had two other tumours to deal with.
This leads me to the reason I have had to set up this gofundme. The treatment I need isn't available in Ireland so in a matter of weeks I will be travelling to Germany to undergo treatment.
Not only has this been a huge financial burden on me but also on my family who have supported me since this all began back in February.
I know there are so many worthwhile causes asking for donations at the moment and I never thought that I would have to ask for financial support to help save my life but this is my reality.
I would appreciate any donations to help me get the treatment I need and to bring my 10 month old daughter with me.
It there are any funds left at the end of my journey I will happily donate this money to charity.
