Thank for taking the time to read this...
I am on the verge of being homeless. This takes a lot out of me to admit such a thing.
When my mom was diagnosed with dementia I was in a position to help my mom out. She helped me out as well, as I was in an unhealthy and abusive relationship. We leaned on each other for love and support. My siblings were supportive and loved that I was there for my mom.
My teenage daughter, Alexis also supported and helped me take care of my mom, while struggling with her own emotional issues.
It has now come a time where we are in need. I am currently enrolled in school and very close to graduating. Last month - out of seeminly no where - a family member called one day and said, "I'm taking Mom to Texas to live in an assisted living facilty". She is 84 years old and has never been out of the state of California. She has gone from being accustomed to being around family and friends and her beloved dogs around her every day - to facility where she knows no one.
I am now thrown into the awkward position of asking for help. I am now responsible for taking over the responsiblities of the mortgage, utilities and association fees effective March 1st, 2016 (only to be told last week). I need this help for at least a year, but with graduation within a few months, I know that I will find a career and with gratitude from everyone, I will be on my own journey soon.
Any help that you can provide us will be much appreciated and I will pay it forward.
My daughter's mantra has always been "random acts of kindness, is good for the soul". And I will proudly carry that on.
