Dr. An Wu's Family Emergency Travel Expenses

Dr. An Wu is a young and talented neuroscientist working at the University of California, San Diego. She went to Montreal, Canada, for an academic conference COSYNE and stayed at an Airbnb in Old Montreal. Unfortunately, a large fire broke out in the historical building that she stayed at in the Old Port District of Montreal Thursday, March 16th, at 5:45 AM. Six people remain missing, and Dr. An Wu is one of them.

Dr. An Wu originally came from China, and her parents who still live there are desperately searching for her. She is their only child. Her parents will be traveling from China to both Montreal, Canada and San Diego, California, US to deal with the related matters. We are fundraising to help cover their International flight and two months of living expenses in the US and Canada.

Since the building is a heritage building, the dismantling work is now done stone by stone, it may take weeks or even months to get an answer for Dr. An Wu’s family, without knowing how long the process will take, we are starting a gofundme to raise some funds to help to cover Dr. An Wu’s parents’ travel/living expenses in Canada and the US. The high living cost + travel in both countries will be a big burden to the family’s financial situation on top of their emotional suffering.
