Tonya David & Dr. Fitt Go to Washington
The Medical Device Safety Act DC Trip 2019
On May 14-18 2019, Tonya David and Dr. Melynda Fitt, two women injured by medical mesh, along with a coalition of several prominent patient advocates injured by diverse medical devices, including some who were featured in the award winning documentary The Bleeding Edge , will be traveling to Washington DC to meet with members of Congress or their staffers to discuss their support of The Medical Device Safety Act .
The medical device industry is a $400Billion (US) enterprise and the FDA's lax regulations and alternative summary reporting system has led to profit-driven incentives that put patients at risk daily , all while allowing corporations to cover up the true rates of injury caused by medical devices. The Medical Device Safety Act would amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act with respect to liability under State and local requirements regarding Class III devices.
The bill is being reintroduced this May 2019; Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Congressman Peter DeFazio, Congressman Bobby Rush and Congressman Lloyd Doggett have all committed to sponsoring the bill.
Contributions will be used to cover travel, lodging, meals & incidentals for Tonya & Dr. Fitt as they join the efforts of other patient safety advocates in the fight to restore the American Citizen's 7th Amendment rights. Your support in this endeavor will help advance the cause of all those who have been injured by a medical device. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated, as we understand the significant financial burden placed on the families of those who have been injured by a medical device.
Please join our efforts - it is only through action of ordinary Citizens that we can bring about much needed change in Washington DC.
