Dr. Gordon Freeman's Emergency Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Whitney Martin and my partners name is David Miklos. We are fundraising for our sweet tabby kitty boy Dr. Gordon Freeman, for the unexpected emergency medical expenses that are accruing.

Gordon has always been a very healthy kitty boy, and never had any medical scares, even at his age of 12 years. I have lived and loved cats my entire life, and I firmly believe this energy and love helps them live even longer lives. Many of our family cats over the years have neared the age of 20.

Now if anyone has ever met this little guy, you know how special he is. Literally the sweetest, most snuggly and also very goofy boy in the world. Anytime we ever feel unwell, Gordon is there to snuggle up like an IRL teddy bear and make you forget for a moment - or hours - your troubles.

So we were absolutely not expecting to have him get sick so quickly. This past Sunday, we noticed he had suddenly swelled up like a balloon and was eating way smaller portions of food. He wasn't using the box like normal too.

So far he has visited Town & Country Animal Hospital on Broad St. These folks are so patient and gentle and kind, he is very lucky to have been able to get in with them.

After blood work, an ex-ray and an ultrasound, they found that everything looked pretty normal other than his abdomen filling with fluids, and also unfortunately they were unable to pinpoint the cause of his fluid build up. Based on symptoms, they suspected mesothelioma at first, - which is terrifying in its own right - but after phone consultation with an emergency veterinarian at OSU, Gordon's doctor thinks he may have some other kind of cancer that is much more likely to be treatable.

The next step for him is to visit the Emergency Animal Hospital at OSU on Monday for further testing to determine the exact cause of the fluid buildup, and then to build a treatment plan moving forward.

Today, he gets to go back in and have the fluids drained from his abdomen. This will relieve pressure on his internal organs and all of his joints. He does a sort of waddle walk right now because of how round he is, and when he isn't doing that he is just laying on the floor.

We are pretty heartbroken with how much he is just not himself right now. Knowing what is going on and getting him on the mend is our main priority right now, but unfortunately we are stretched financially with this emergency, and are really struggling to have the money for the next few steps.

This was not an easy thing to create, but we owe it to him to try to get him the help he deserves. Any funds that anyone is kind enough to donate will be used directly for Gordon's medical expenses. He already has 900 tallied up in testing costs so far, so I'm guessing there is probably a lot more to come.

With much humility and love,
All for our sweet boy,
We thank you.
