Honoring Dr. Jacquelyn Morillo-Delerme's Legacy

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Jacquelyn (Jackie) Morillo-Delerme on December 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. This scholarship fund aims to encompass Jackie’s shining light and dedication to her family and her successful career in the medical profession. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has chosen a similar path of devotion to caring for others as a pre-med student or to a student who has been faced with adversity and the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

Jackie's Story

Jackie lived as a dedicated daughter of Christ, a wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, friend, and outstanding doctor. Jackie studied Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico to pursue a career as an Anesthesiologist who touched the lives of hundreds of children and their families throughout her career at Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and Dayton Children’s Hospital, where she earned her retirement in 2022 as Chief Director of Anesthesia.

In addition to her career, she shared her medical knowledge and skills as a silent hero. She gave her free time to volunteer work, traveling to her home country, Puerto Rico, to assist in the aftermath of the hurricane, traveling to various locations on mission trips, and volunteering with Doctors Without Borders. Known as Dr. Jackie to her colleagues, she had a distinguished career and commitment to the lifelong learning of medical students and younger physicians.

While working endless hours as an anesthesiologist, Jackie provided the same dedication to her family. In addition to her dedication as a wife (of 40 years) to Paco, Jackie was the proud mother of five children: Zoraida, Francisco, Victor, Yanessa, and Marcelo, and grandmother of three (Luna, Noana, & Raiden). Her family and friends will remember Jackie for her kindness, generosity, unconditional love, strength, and, most importantly, her smile.
