Dr. James Dillon needs our help!

James Dillon is my best friend. I had the pleasure of going to medical school with him. He is beyond a shadow of a doubt the smartest person I have ever met. James has an inherent brilliance that is perfect for medicine. Not only is he intelligent, but he is charming, polite, considerate, dedicated, reliable, and has amazing integrity. As if that's not enough, he served our country proudly in the Marine Corps.
During his clinical clerkships in medical school, he observed care that did not fit standard of care for his patients. After advocating for his patients to receive appropriate and better care, he suffered what I perceive as unfair backlash from his team that resulted in negative marks on his academic record. As a result, he was unable to match into a residency position this year.
He will be reapplying for the match this year. He has since taken substantial steps toward improving his application and has a high chance of matching next year. Unfortunately, because he has graduated, he can no longer receive student loans to cover the expenses of applying and interviewing. On average, the cost of applying to residency is anywhere between 1500-2500$ depending on how many programs you apply to. Further, there are hotel and flight costs associated with each interview you are granted.
I cannot stand by and watch James be prevented from applying to residency because of financial constraints. Medicine needs a mind like James. I kid you not when I say this man is the next Dr. House. My girlfriend and I will be saving as much money as possible to donate to James' residency application costs. I believe in James not only for the aforementioned reasons, but because I know that countless patients will benefit from his care as a practicing physician.
I have never started a gofundme page for anything. But for James, I will do everything I can to ensure his success. He served his country as a Marine and will serve his country even further as a practicing physician with our help. Thank you so much for donating to help my best friend, James Dillon.
