Dr. Nick Vachon

Hi, my name is Kimberly Vachon-Parks and I am Nick Vachon’s older sister. I am setting up this Go Fund Me account for Nick because of his recent stage 3-4 brain cancer diagnosis. He will be receiving chemo and radiation 5 days a week for 6 weeks then 1 week a month for 6 months. The treatments will be aggressive and tiring for Nick making it difficult for him to work and drive. My close knit family has been devastated by the news and the amount of care he will need during this time. He will need help covering the cost of college loans and medical treatments which we think this Go Fund Me Fundraiser will relieve any anxiety and stress he feels financially. I guess my thinking is one less burden. Currently, we are maintaining a positive coaching mentality with Nick to get him through but sometimes the uncertainty creeps in and I remember he is my little brother who I played school with. We would sit together at home as I babysat because my mom worked nights as a nurse and I taught him his addition, subtraction, multiplication and division prior to second grade. Julie our youngest sibling later joined my school after watching how much fun Nick was having. Nick always loved the timed math fact quizzes! I remember teaching him to tie his shoes and at the time Nick needed speech and occupational therapy so he could not do the Adam Sandler method of tying shoes, “The loop swoop and pull method” and I had to make the adjustment to teach him the elephant ears method. I still watch him tie his shoes this way. I have been reflecting on those happy and rewarding memories between an older sister and younger brother much more now. Nick was such a bright student and one of my star pupils during my pretend school teaching years there was no question he would do something amazing with his life. He applied to only one school his senior year at Queensbury High School and miraculously was accepted to the Albany College of Pharmacy Accelerated Pharmacy Program where he excelled in chemistry and of course math. He is now a pharmacist who has dedicated his life to taking care of patients every day and now it is our turn to take care of Dr. Nick. Please leave a motivating message with your donation to Nick so he can read them as he fights this cancer. My family and I would like to thank anyone who donates to help Nick and all proceeds will go directly to Nick. We are eternally grateful for any support.
Here is my motivational quote Nick:
Nick I know your favorite movie is The Count of Monte Cristo and I always thought I would say this at your wedding one day but I think now is the time. "Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine! Then the fates will know you as we know you.” - Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo
