Dr Richard Simpson's Retirement Gift to CARA
The University of Sheffield ELTC's long-standing Director and Head of Department, Dr Richard Simpson, will be leaving at the end of May for a well-earned retirement after just short of 30 years at the ELTC, with over half of those as the head.
In lieu of a leaving present, Richard is raising money in aid of COUNCIL FOR AT-RISK ACADEMICS and every donation will help. https://www.cara.ngo/ Cara - the Council for At-Risk Academics - has been working since 1933 to support academics at risk. "In all that we do we honour the aim set out by our founders in 1933, “to prevent the waste of exceptional abilities exceptionally trained” - knowing how important such abilities are to the future of each country, and to the world."
We will miss Richard greatly and his leadership over decades of growth, change and success in our area. We will be communicating plans for saying goodbye but wish him all the very best and thank him for his dedication to us and the ELT sector.
Thank you in advance for any contribution to this cause that means so much to him and ELTC. I have started with a donation from me and few others - but anything is appreciated and we realise everyone has different circumstances.
