Dr. Yongwei Wu Memorial Fund

This fundraiser is in remembrance of Dr. Yongwei Wu and in support of his family. I am setting up this fundraiser on behalf of Prof. Li Deng.

Yongwei was born and grew up in Fujian, Sanming. He went to Tsinghua University for his undergraduate studies. After receiving his BS degree with a chemistry major, he went to Brandeis for his graduate studies where he received his PhD. After a short stay as a postdoctoral fellow at Brandeis, he went to Scripps Research Institute to continue his a postdoc studies. In both PhD and postdoctoral studies, he made breakthrough progresses that created and shaped new directions for many of his colleagues to follow and remain highly influential to this day. Upon finishing his postdoctoral studies, he joined Amgen in Boston. As a talented medicinal and process chemist, he contributed significantly in a series of drug discovery projects.

Yongwei’s brilliance as a professional chemist is accompanied by his kindness, warmth and optimism, which brings so much positivity, hope and inspirations that have touched all of us.

Yongwei passed away on March 31st of 2024, after a long and courage battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Qian Liu, his two children and his parents. We are raising money for Yongwei’s family to help them in this difficult time. I am calling on all of you to help and be as generous as you can. The donation will go directly to Yongwei’s family.
