Drake Family Medical Emergency

We are seeking any help for the Drake Family, after Joe Drake has been unexpectedly hospitalized and without income to support their family of 6.

Joe started feeling ill and noticed a large blister on his leg early last week. He could barely walk and the next day went to the doctor, and was quickly directed to go to the ER, then admitted to the hospital. He was at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center for several days before being transferred to Wichita. He is being treated for a very severe infection that is resisting antibiotics.

Doctors are still uncertain exactly how long Joe will be in the hospital, and have already estimated 2 weeks of recovery time afterward. He is still in the hospital at this time.

The Drake Family is dependent on Joe’s sole income to provide for their family of 6, soon to be 7, as they are expecting their fifth child this year. His wife Amber is a stay at home mom.

Because he works for a small business, Joe does not have access to any paid time off while he is in the hospital, and during his recovery. The family is worried about their bills piling up during this time, especially as there is no certainty right now as to when he can return to work.

The family is also needing help to pay for lodging, travel expenses, and incidentals, so that Amber can be with Joe, hours away from their children and home. They are fortunate to have friends and family to assist them with the children during this uncertain time, but will have expenses related to this unforeseen child care need as well.
