JD’s Fiji Chiropractic Mission Trip - March, 2017
Hello friends, family, and loved ones,
As some of you may know I have been studying to become a Doctor of Chiropractic for over a year and a half now! I’m attending Life Chiropractic College West in the San Francisco Bay area in Hayward and playing division 1 club rugby for the school. I am currently finishing my 7th quarter and am at the halfway mark to graduating and becoming Dr. Josh Drake, D.C.! With each passing school quarter, I become more convinced that chiropractic saves lives and the more humbled I am to provide that service for others in the very near future.
On March 23rd 2017, I will be travelling to the Fijian islands to provide chiropractic care to the loving and deserving people of Fiji. We will be on these beautiful islands for 8 days and traveling up to 266 miles during our mission including a couple of the more rural islands of Fiji. The president of Fiji will also be hosting us for a meet and greet to find out about what we are about and what chiropractic is. We will be helping an estimated 3,000 Fijians of all ages return to vitality through chiropractic adjustments. I’ll be taking this journey with 30-40 fellow chiropractic students and we will be lead by 3-5 amazing chiropractic doctors from all over the country who are answering this call to serve and lead us. You can find out more about the chiropractic doctors leading us on this service trip by clicking the following links.

Why Chiropractic? Chiropractic looks into the human body’s nervous system for dysfunction. The nervous system allows the signals from the brain to communicate effectively with the rest of the body and vise-versa. We work with human potential through innate intelligence. Innate intelligence is the cellular organization living beings are born with. It is what allows the body to heal from injuries, is responsible for the union and growth of a fetus inside a mother, and enables the unconscious brain to run all the other systems of the human body. As long as there is no interference or blockage in the nervous system disabling proper communication from the brain down and back up, innate intelligence works perfectly. This interference is caused from trauma, thoughts, and toxins and manifests itself as a subluxation. Subluxations occur throughout the spinal cord where they become misaligned with the other vertebrae, interrupting the communication of the nervous system. The Chiropractor’s job is to assess the person looking for these subluxations through a hands on approach through joint range of motion and other signs from the human body such as spastic or inhibited muscles. Once the subluxation(s) is/are detected, the chiropractor uses a quick, painless thrust or impulse into the subluxated vertebrae to correct it.
In order to make this dream a reality, it is going to require some help. I’m attempting to raise $3,000 for the trip. This money will be going toward airfare, transportation around and to the other islands, food while in Fiji, uniform and lodging for 9 nights.
If this sounds like something you can support and resonates with you, I will humbly and VERY gratefully accept any gift you feel is appropriate. This trip is going to be one of the most fulfilling points in my life to date, and am beyond ecstatic to be a part of it. I’ll be able to offer an amazing service to people who really need it and would otherwise have no access to it. I’m extremely appreciative of all of you and your financial support means more than you’ll ever know. And don’t worry, I will be sure to take plenty of photos to document this amazing trip for everyone to see :)
