Dreamland Faces
Donation protected
We've done it! Together we have raised $20,000 for our friends Karen Majewicz and Andy McCormick, and for the wonderful Dreamland Faces. Our collective generosity has already resulted in a new bass for the band, a marimba, a new computer and improved recording equipment. You can see and hear the results of our contributions on Dreamland Faces' page here: https://soundcloud.com/dreamland-faces
And on Andy's page here: https://soundcloud.com/user-796995171/
We THANK YOU so much your remarkable generosity, especially during this mad unpredictable time. We feel so lucky to have friends and family like you to help us conclude this campaign. We wish the best to everyone who lent us a hand, and hope to pass on that kindness.

Andy McCormick and Karen Majewicz are Dreamland Faces, a band based in Minneapolis for nearly 20 years. Over that time they have played music around the world, writing and recording original songs and accompanying silent films, puppet shows, dance performances and more. Locally, they are well known for writing and performing original film scores at the Trylon Cinema and Heights Theater. For 15 years Dreamland Faces practiced and recorded in a music studio very close to the notorious 3rd precinct in Minneapolis, where George Floyd was murdered by the police. On the night of May 30 sparks from nearby fires landed on the roof of their studio, burning it to the ground and destroying irreplaceable instruments and recordings.
No one got hurt, but everything inside was destroyed: pianos, organs, accordions, upright bass, sheet music, computer, recording equipment & media, a lifetime of music. Their website tells the story. The full tragic list of what was lost is here. We are asking those of you who can afford it to contribute what you can to rebuild their studio, replace their instruments, and keep Dreamland Faces working & playing.
Dreamland Faces are far from the only people impacted by this tragedy. Their entire neighborhood & much of the city of Minneapolis are devastated, and many people are simply trying to survive. If you have more to give, or would like to support organizations working directly for rebuilding and social justice, please consider making a donation to Southside Harm Reduction Services or Northside Funders Group .
Minnesota governor Tim Walz has said all efforts must be made to bring destroyed neighborhoods back to life in their own image. This includes restoring creative life, such as music made by longtime residents of those neighborhoods like Dreamland Faces. Andy and Karen are eager to play music again, in their home and with their community. Thank you for your help.
