Funeral for my big sister drew

On the 16th of august, Drew Douglas my big sister was fatally stabbed in the chest by her former long term boyfriend, the father of her 4 young children, in their home in Sydney.

Drew was a 31year old mum to 4 beautiful little girls ages between 4 weeks to 12 years old.

Hours leading up to her death, the justice system failed her when they were unresponsive to the call Shaun King made to police while intoxicated. Evidence has not yet been released regarding what that phone call entailed, however it is believed that no police officers on duty that night presented to the house for a welfare check on either Shaun, Drew, or the kids despite the history of domestic violence between the two.

Family, friends and those in the community who knew Drew, are shattered by the loss of such a young, courageous and beautiful individual who was known to help where help was needed. Lending a loving hand and a warm smile.

Their 2 oldest children are old enough to understand their mum will never be coming back, and they are fully aware of the situation that has unfolded in their family home. And now these 4 young girls will grow up without a mum or a dad to walk them through their toughest challenges that life will bring, instead they are forced to burry their mum, and watch their dad go to jail, leaving them behind with nothing but pain and suffering from the trauma.

We are certainly aware of the crisis we are all collectively experiencing right now, and completely understand if all you can spare is a prayer for our family, that will be appreciated just as much. However if do have a spare few dollars to donate towards Drew’s funeral so we can give her the last send off she deserves we will be forever grateful. Any extra money raised will be used for the girls therapy, schooling and any other expenses they will need during this time.
