Drew Gentzyel and his family need our help!
Donation protected
As many of you know, the Gentzyel Family faced devastating news in the early morning on December 15, 2021. Drew was in a car accident only a short distance from home with entrapment and a severe spinal cord injury. Drew was life-flighted and underwent surgery at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Initial scans indicated that his spinal cord was severed and the possibility of him ever walking again was grim. During the surgery, that tiny shred of hope turned into news no one was expecting as the doctors determined his spinal cord was not severed as they previously thought but severely bruised. Tears of joy were shed by his family, friends, and even acquaintances with this news. This finding has increased Drew's chances of recovery. He and his family are still faced with a very long road ahead. A bruised spinal cord is very different than a bruised arm or leg. The injury is severe. Drew will need 12-18 months of intense care and rehabilitation to increase his chances of walking again. The needs of this family will not diminish but will increase overtime. The medial bills, gas to and from appointments, the significant potential for housing renovations to accommodate Drew during his recovery are just a few of the monetary needs this young family will be faced with. Please help make a difference! By making a donation, you are helping to shave away some of the worries this family doesn't need and are allowing them focus on the more important facts...Drew is alive! He can tell his children and wife he loves them, he can feel their hugs and kisses, and they can feel his back. With everything they are facing and the hard times to come, his prognosis went from dreadful to hopeful. We can help make a difference in their battle. Our small town has a way of pulling together in the times that count. Now is that time. The Gentzyel family needs us. Every amount, big or small will help (donations can also be accepted even beyond the desired goal and all donations go directly to the family). Drew (40 years old), his wife Jaime (36), and their children Emma (11), Gracie (6), and Jake (3) got the best early Christmas miracle...the gift of life. It's our turn to pull together and give them another type of gift!
