Drew’s fund for PD at PNB for the 22-23 year

Hi!

My name is Drew, and after completing five weeks at Pacific Northwest Ballet’s summer course I was accepted into their Professional Division program! The Professional Division, or PD program, is for young dancers like myself looking to transition out of a school environment and into company or professional life, while still enriching our dance education. Combining classes on technique and Pas de Deux with genuine performance and rehearsal opportunities, the PD program would help me grow into a well rounded dancer ready for work in a professional company! Furthering the excitement is the possibility of being hired by a company such as Pacific Northwest Ballet. In order to ensure each student has the best chance of getting hired in a company that works best for them, the PD program is also equipped with career advising, visits from artistic directors of other renowned companies, and workshops in resume writing and auditioning. In 2020 alone, the PD program was able to send over 40 of its students to programs and companies, including PNB, to become professional artists. In addition to the preparation aspect, PNB’s 50th anniversary season coincides with my first year of the PD program. Thus, vaulting me into the life of a company member already casted in amazing ballets such as Carmina Burana and George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker! However, all of these amazing opportunities come at a price. I am extremely grateful to have a family that is blessed and privileged enough to support my housing and living expenses, but I am in need of support in order to cover my tuition and continue my work as a PD.
