Drew’s medical and living expenses
As many of you know Drew was driving home from work when the battery under his seat suffered a catastrophic failure and exploded while he was driving down the expressway. The heat intensified so quickly that he had to jump out of the moving car. His clothes caught fire before he could get out. He was then transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he was admitted to their burn unit. Drew has second and third degree burns on 20% of his body including his arms, hands, shoulder, stomach, chest, right thigh, cheek, forehead and lips. Luckily there were no burns to his airway. He went in for emergency surgery shortly after being admitted to receive temporary grafts to the areas with the deepest burns. Another surgery is scheduled for permanent graft placement and wound cleaning.
All we know as of now is that he will be in the hospital and inpatient rehab at least for the next 9-10 weeks before starting outpatient rehab.
Drew has remained strong and doing as well as can be expected at this point in the process. We pray that he remains strong and heals without complications.
Medical expenses are still uncertain at this time as he has no paid time off from work as he just started two months.
Many friends and family have asked if they can make a monetary donation to assist Drew during his recovery, so we have decided to open a Go Fund Me page. If you choose to donate here is the link to do so:
