Droitwich RFC - Coronavirus Appeal

Droitwich RFC needs you!
After receiving instruction from the RFU and the government, our Rugby Club has shut down for the season and the foreseeable. Whilst this has an immediate impact on the social side of things, it ultimately impacts the financial position of the club. With no known date for reopening, we are doing our best to support the community as we can, but will need that favour returned!
Alongside no further activity, we have had to cancel many private functions, big events and tournaments that were in the diary and the financial loss from them is hindering our future. Sport England & The RFU have reached out to us and we are in ongoing conversations to gain some Governing Body support, but there is no certainty that this will come through. Therefore, we are taking things into our own hands to generate funding for our club, ourselves. This is purely to ensure that our Rugby Club can survive this tricky period and be able to deliver the fun, social game, in the coming season.
Since 1972 our Rugby Club has grown tremendously. The 1st XV is currently playing in the highest level to date. Our Minis & Juniors section has also seen record numbers signing up in the past few seasons and this is something we are very proud of. It is the players, parents, grandparents and carers that turn up week in week out that keep clubs like ours going. Our volunteering workforce is growing and as we all know, is the main reason why this club is still running. Alongside rugby, we host the community Age UK Dementia Café, Give Blood sessions monthly and other various community events.
We are asking for donations from individuals or companies to help us through this tricky period. We are doing a lot in the community at the moment and hope that the voluntary hours that we are putting in, are being recognised.
Any donations will be reinvested into the club, with the number one priority being that when this has all blown over, our club is open and ready for YOU.
DRFC is a friendly, local community club that has enviable facilities. It relies on the hire of its clubhouse, catering and functions to supplement membership income to keep its facilities going. All of these areas have been impacted by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Last year the ongoing costs were approximately £100k, with only a third covered by membership of it’s booming minis and juniors and successful senior sides. The club is reliant on volunteers and is asking for voluntary donations to help cover its costs.
Kind Regards,
Droitwich RFC
