Drone for Dromedaries: A New Way to Save the Outback

Donation protected
G'day, I’m Jack, the creator of Jack Out the Back, where I share stories of life in the outback—its challenges, opportunities, and the incredible landscapes we work to protect. As someone deeply committed to land and environmental management, I believe the best way to encourage land care is through productive and sustainable use of the land.

One of the biggest challenges I face is managing feral camels. These animals damage water points, fences, and native ecosystems, making sustainable land management even harder. Many of you have suggested, “Jack, why not get a drone?” It’s a great idea, but it’s also a significant investment. That’s where I need your help.

---

The Problem:
Managing feral camels is no small task. They devastate critical resources, push out native wildlife, and cost thousands in repairs and lost productivity. Tracking and culling them is essential to protecting the land, but it’s time-consuming and physically demanding.

A drone could help spot and track camels faster and more efficiently. But here’s the catch—I’ve had a drone before, and it broke. Getting a reliable drone that can handle the outback’s rugged conditions is expensive. And while my YouTube channel allows me to share these stories, platforms like YouTube undervalue creators, barely covering the costs of production.

This campaign is about more than just buying a drone. It’s about investing in smarter ways to manage ferals, protecting the environment, and exploring new opportunities for sustainable land care.

---

The Solution:
With your support, we can get a thermal-equipped drone to:

Spot and track camels efficiently, reducing waste and protecting resources.

Test whether drones can be used to muster camels, offering a potential game-changer for feral management.

Explore commercial opportunities for managing feral animals and reducing their impact on the land.

Capture stunning, educational footage that shows the reality of life on the land.

By integrating technology like this, we can innovate and find new ways to protect the land while sharing these solutions with people worldwide.

What Your Support Means:
Every dollar raised will go toward purchasing a drone that fits the needs of station work. If we exceed our goal, additional funds will support efforts to raise awareness about the challenges of managing feral animals under poor legislative frameworks. This includes working toward political and practical solutions that address the root causes of destructive land management issues.

Supporting this campaign means you’re funding a tool that helps protect the environment, promotes sustainable land use, and opens the door to exploring new ways of managing feral animals responsibly and productively.

Call to Action:
Let’s make this happen. Support the Drone for Dromedaries campaign and help revolutionize feral animal management while showcasing the beauty and challenges of the outback. Together, we can make a real difference. Thank you for being part of this journey.
