Dropping the Mitts for Drew Brown

Donation protected
On May 1st, 2014 Drew was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, Ewing Sarcoma.

Drew was a junior at Providence College when he suffered a hit to his left leg during a playoff hockey game.  After a few weeks of ongoing pain in his leg, Drew was notified that the results of an MRI showed a suspicious tumor. Drew's coach arranged for him to be sent home to receive care at the University of Michigan Hospital. The shocking diagnosis was Ewing Sarcoma Cancer, which was a 1 in a million chance and just…. unbelievable.

Over the next year, Drew received chemo and surgery on his femur to remove the tumor.  That year had many ups and downs for Drew.  Drew put his hockey career on hold, while his Friar teammates, inspired by Drew, went on to win the National Championship in 2015. Drew went back to Providence College to finish his college career as an assistent student coach for the hockey team and recieved a Bacelors of Science degree in 2016.

Unfortunately, in the spring of 2016, Drew's cancer had returned, this time spreading to his lungs. Since then, Drew continued to fight hard against this horrible disease.

Drew continues to have a loving, faithful family standing beside him, a fun and supportive group of friends, a very determined, strong-willed team of Providence Friars fighting for him, many caring Lions from Kent and a very loyal community of Bulldogs from Chelsea.

Over the past few weeks, the cancer has taken a turn for the worse.  Drew spent a week in the hospital, but is now home regaining his strength. He needs 24/7 care and his fiancé, mom, dad, and sister are happy to be there with him providing that care. However, with this care and continuous treatment comes a financial strain. Please consider lifting the burden with a donation to his family in addition to including them in your prayers.
