My mother, Dr. Patricia Bath is a well‐known eye physician, scientist and humanitarian.
I and her family and friends are committed to helping establish a scholarship in her name to
benefit female medical students.
As a young budding scientist and aspiring physician Dr. Bath was
frequently discouraged by administrators and faculty from her career choices in science and
medicine, based on gender.
She was repeatedly told by both scholarship and admission committees that it was a
better choice to award scholarships to male candidates or to grant medical school admissions to
male college students.
With strength of purpose combined with academic excellence, my Mom ignored the
naysayers and followed her dream. Dr. Bath now has academic credentials from some of the
world’s finest institutions including Hunter College, Howard University College of Medicine,
Albert Einstein Yeshiva University, NYU, Columbia University, UCLA, Loughborough Institute of
Technology, the Rothschild Eye Institute, Harvard University, and the University of Free Berlin.
Dr. Bath has been honored by the New York Academy of Medicine, the Smithsonian Museum,
and the National Library of Medicine and is a member of the medical honor society, Alpha
Omega Alpha. You can learn more about my mother, Dr. Patricia Bath here:

Now it’s her turn to give back and honor the importance of education especially for
women medical students. Please donate to the Dr. Patricia Bath Scholarship Fund and help
encourage young women to achieve their dreams of becoming a physician.
