Kenny’s journey to healing

My name is Kenneth Myers for those of you who don’t know me, all my friends call me Kenny. I’m 68 yrs old, a wild life photographer and a surfer for almost 60 yrs.

Back in July 2021 while living in Santa Catalina, Panama; I was in bad stomach pain for 3 days, so bad I could barely walk. After this episode, I was better having a relatively normal life still surfing and taking pictures until the first week of November, when my health and strength started to deteriorate with symptoms like gases, bloating, nauseas, weight loss, constipation and upset stomach. My wife dragged me into a hospital in Panama City with a blood pressure of 210, after some blood work and tests, I was told that my bladder was about to rupture, that I had already reached kidney failure stage 5, bladder retention, prostate enlargement-blockage, and anemia. The docs in Pty saved me in the ER with a catheter (which I had to be put under to be able to place it in). I spent over a week in the hospital in PTY, but I had to come to USA for insurance purposes and more medical care, where I am now in Texas at my daughters.

When I left Panama the doc categorically said that I needed a kidney transplant and that my creatinine levels were not gonna go down, but then a God’s miracle happened. When I was admitted at the hospital here in Texas after some blood work, the doc said I didn’t need a kidney transplant, that my levels had gone down I was discharged from the hospital, still weak but stable. I’m currently waiting on some more blood work, ultrasounds, MRIs results to know what’s next in terms of my prostate, bladder and kidneys. I’m still in renal failure stage 4 but my kidneys keep fighting back!! I’m asking for prayers and donations for extensive medical bills generated in Panama, for this uncertain road ahead with more medical procedures and bills not covered by insurance. Hope to return home in Panama and be able to pick up my camera again.
