Let's Get David Well

Family, Friends, and Community,
Our Brother, David Shaverdi, was diagnosed with liver and stomach cancer on February 12th of this year. David is currently slated to start chemotherapy treatment next week at Kaiser Permanente; however, we have been in contact with an Oncology specialist at the USC Norris Cancer Hospital. It is our belief that time is of the essence and given the reputation of Norris Cancer Hospital and the referral by a dear family friend (Dr. Adel Kardosh) who is currently an Oncology researcher at Stanford University, we feel the Norris Hospital is the prudent choice.
This choice we have made comes with heavy demands from us. We must work diligently to try and convince Kaiser to “authorize” treatment at Norris. While we will fight the good fight, anyone who knows what it is like to convince a healthcare provider to pay for out-of-network services knows this could be a long and drawn out battle that we may never win. Thus, we have made the decision to start testing and treatment with Norris concurrently. This, however, comes with extreme out of pocket expenses to the family. Therefore, we have created this account as a way for family, friends and the community to help David get well.
As the father of four beautiful boys, David II (12), and five year old triplets; Giovanni, Joseph, and Valentino, David’s wellbeing is imperative. Accordingly, his sole focus will have to be on treatment and recovery. We ask that you help us relieve him from worry and concern as it pertains to the costs involved in fighting such a difficult fight.
Thank you,
Tania, Ryan and Family
