The Well Collective - Debut Album

We are The Well Collective, a collaborative group of musicians and songwriters from The Well Church Sheffield. Our desire as a group is to lead people into deeper adoration and friendship with Jesus. One of the ways that we are seeking to do this is by recording and releasing our debut worship album! But for this, we need your help. We are seeking to raise £7,200 to be able to record our home-grown songs to the highest level, allowing members of The Well, and those beyond, to carry these songs throughout the week and not just on a Sunday. We would love if you could prayerfully consider financially supporting us as we embark on this journey. We are really believing that this is important ground to break in order to release the songs we know are rising up in the church throughout this city.

Here is a bit of our story:

In 2022, new songs started rising up from musicians within our student community, and ended up integrating within both student gatherings and Sunday services. As many of you will be aware of, there is a significant stirring happen within the UK (and global) church as Gen Z are experiencing fresh outpourings of the Holy Spirit. Having noticed that the Lord was doing something new through the writing of songs within our student community, our writers began discussing with other more experienced worship leaders what this could look like. After spending 2023 praying, planning, writing and dreaming, we started to imagine what an EP (3-4 songs) of original music could look like. A few writing sessions later, we realised that the favour of the Lord on our writing sessions meant we had far too many songs to just do an EP ... so here we are, in 2024, preparing to release our debut album in 2025.

When it came to figuring out how we would record this, and do it well, the Lord was once again showing His beautiful favour over the process. A few months ago we met a producer called Chris who is a missionary in Sheffield passionate about using music to share Jesus. He recently set up his own recording studio called Balcony Recording Company which part of the Message Trust building. What is amazing about that is that the studio overlooks the auditorium where a partner church of The Well meet on Sundays! Chris is extremely talented and has worked with some really well known artists both in the CCM and secular industry. We are so blessed to be able to work with someone that is so skilled, and equally passionate to see the Lord glorified through this project.

This album has been highly rooted in scripture from the get-go, and addresses themes such as Jesus as the Bridegroom, living as sacrifices to the Lord and childlike faith in a way that feels both fresh and necessary for our church and beyond.

Financial breakdown:

Yes, this is a lot of money. But we want to make sure that we don't just do this in half-measures but do this really, really well; becoming an offering in itself to Jesus. This total will allow for us to create a 'live' feel which many of these songs call for. It will also allow us have Chris produce the songs for us, which will be a much better quality (and more efficient) than if some of our team tried to juggle that in between their own jobs. This money will also contribute to mastering costs which will be done by another organisation, as well as other additional costs such as instrument hire.
