McKenney Family Fund
Donation protected
So many people have already shown such love and support for Jay and Allison and their daughters. But their needs right now are so big. The goal of this fund is to help ease any burdens or stress that cancer will cause this beautiful family. The ability to help them financially honors them in such a huge way.
The backstory: In February of 2013, the family of Jay McKenney was changed forever as he was diagnosed with cancer. Specifically, Well-Differentiated Lyposarcoma which is a rare form of cancer that forms in the fat cells. Jay's body, specifically his stem cells, are aggressively prone to re-generating tumors.
It's not if. It's when.
For Jay, that's meant four surgeries to remove those tumors, and in October 2019, he was diagnosed with his fifth battle with Liposarcoma with two new tumors.
His diagnosis has been called terminal. He's in the fight of his life, for his life.
The scan in October revealed new tumors in his abdomen and back, while he was still in the midst of recovery from his previous cancer-removal surgery in April. Unfortunately, surgery and radiation are not a good option for this round of treatment, and chemo is only 5% effective in preventing his type of cancer (and not at all effective on existing tumors.)
Allison spent countless hours researching alternative treatments and as a result, was able to uncover two more procedures of cryoablation and microwave ablation that Jay had performed in January and February 2020.
As of April 2020, he's been given days or Lord-willing, weeks to live. But Jay is a fighter, and he continues to CONTEND.
Medical bills are continuing to pile up, and outside-the-box treatments have been expensive. Specifically, their deductible on their insurance reset in 2020 and they are responsible for an out-of-pocket percentage above and any funeral or final costs beyond that as well.
The weight of all of this nearly overwhelming. Yet, through it all, Jay and Allison's attitude has been one of great faith in the Lord and willingness to do whatever it takes to live a life to glorify and honor Him. Jay's amazing humor, Allison's grace under pressure, and their willingness to share their struggles have been an inspiration and example to so many.
Thank you for your thoughtful gifts and love for them.
