Wayde Fraasch is a Registered Nurse and part of the management team at Grant-Roberts Ambulance in Milbank, SD, as well as a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Wayde has dedicated his life to serving our Country, as well as serving our community. He has put in countless hours, day and night, responding to emergencies in our community with the ambulance. He is a dedicated RN, and an excellent teacher, as he leads many EMT classes each year. Wayde always has a smile on his face, a joke on his mind, or a practical joke behind his back. He is someone that will bend over backwards to help those in need, and take time out of his personal life to lend an ear to someone who needs to talk. Wayde is a wonderful asset to the Ambulance Service, and the community.
Earlier this summer, Wayde was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The following are postings from Wayde himself on his Facebook Account:
October 6th
I have thought long and hard about posting this on Facebook. Approximately 2 months ago I was diagnosed with a Grade 2 Glioma in my right frontal lobe. Simply put, it is (potentially) a benign brain tumor. I am scheduled to have surgery at St Mary's hospital in Rochester on Friday to have it removed. So if I can ask for a couple of prayers or crossing of your fingers and toes, I would appreciate it.
October 10th
I'm still alive!!
October 11th
You have to love modern medicine. Have brain surgery on Friday and then get discharged on Sunday. How sweet that is!!!!
October 23rd
I can't believe it has already been two weeks since my surgery. I would like to say thanks for all the prayers and comments that everyone sent. I also would like to update everyone on my status. I got my pathology report back on Tuesday with not the best of news. They classified my tumor as an Anaplastic Astrocytoma (WHO grade III). That means it is a malignant incurable tumor. Therefore I will start Chemo and Radiation Therapy next week in Sioux Falls for the next six weeks. The doctor said after all the therapy is done, I should be able to return back to a semi-normal life with quarterly follow up appointments for the rest of my life.
November 9th
I received the call from PLH in Watertown. I get to start Radiation and Chemo TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!! The first round of radiation will be 28 treatments. Chemo will be 7 days for 6 weeks. Yeah me!!!! Weight and hair loss here I come!!!!!
As you can see, Wayde is in great spirits! There is a benefit fundraiser on December 6th in Milbank SD to assist his family in this time of need, with incoming medical bills combined with the inability to work. I am hoping that we can also fully fund this fundraiser online, and give back to a great person who lives his life in service to his country, and his community.
Thank You.
