Dublin City Marathon in aid of D12 Autism

Donation protected
Hi My name is Amy Henderson, this year I'm running my very first marathon in aid of D12 Autism.

This is extremely close to my heart as when my son was diagnosed with Autism and a Global development delay at the age of 2 I was completely lost heart broken confused lonely and felt no one understood how I was feeling. A friend of mine recommended I should attend one of D12 Autisms monthly meetings and since then I have never looked back the support help and information received by Helen and Mj and all the Mammys and Daddies attending the meeting was incredible. I didn't feel alone anymore I had the support from people who truly got it.

They are a non-profit voluntary group set up in 2019 by parents to provide support and a link to connect families of autistic children across Dublin 12.

Since 2019 they hold monthly support group meetings for parents and also run a range of autism friendly activities at a reduced cost for the children, such as OT club, messy play, lego club, sports skills and hosted numerous family days out too. In addition, we have also had a number of speakers provide workshops for families including Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists and Family Law experts, self care.

In order to continue to provide this support for families and their children they rely heavily on fundraising in order to continue to subsidise our activities & events and keep costs low in order to connect families & build a community across Dublin 12.
