Dulcies recovery ❤️‍

Hi my name is Sheri. I’m fundraising for an amazing family going through one of the toughest times of their lives, watching one of their children go from a happy healthy child to one day out of the blue becoming very poorly. This family are truly an incredible family, I want to support them by taking the worry and pressure of not working while they care and support their beautiful daughter Dulcie back to recovery, and potentially taking some pressure off the funds she may need for aftercare when she is well enough to come home.

Mum and Dad have 3 children, their youngest has autism as well as being amazing foster parents. They have 2 boys and Dulcie their middle child currently age 9 will be 10 in June is the most bubbly, energetic, happy, beautiful girl. On May 1st Dulcie had two very long seizures out of the blue, the second one lasting 50 minutes, due to being unable to stop the seizures they had to put Dulcie on a ventilator and rush her to intensive care in London, they put her in an induced coma whilst they started doing lots of tests to try and find what was wrong. They thought it might of been viral meningitis or possibly epilepsy, they started Dulcie on treatments such as lots different types of antibiotics and anti seizure medication but the MRI showed inflammation on her brain and other tests, such as lumber punchers/EEG, the neurologists said she was showing signs that she has a rare autoimmune disease causing her own body’s immune system to mistakenly attack her brain. Dulcie was given high dose steroids for 4 days and taken off the ventilator but unfortunately she did not respond to treatment she was unable to respond, speak, walk or engage with anyone around her and had some episodes of struggling with her breathing. She had to be put back on the ventilator and sedated again for a new intense plasma exchange treatment and she was put back in an induced coma for another 7 days. During the treatment there was some complications with her blood pressure, but they managed to get the treatment completed and has also being given an extra treatment of IV IG to reset her immune system. She is one poorly girl with Mum and Dad by her side taking each day as it comes. I ask you please to help me support them as a family taking added pressure off.
