Dear Friends and Family,
I wanted to take a moment to share something with you that’s close to my heart. My dear friend Amy has been battling stage 5 kidney failure and she’s currently going through a very challenging time. As you can imagine expenses can add up quickly, which is why we have started a Go Fund Me to help cover these costs.
Amy began feeling unwell in October. After hospitalization and a series of tests, she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of a rare kidney disease called IGA Nephropathy. This disease caused stage 5 kidney failure. Her illness came on suddenly and was a shock to say the least.
Since her diagnosis, she has had to undergo different treatments and life-sustaining therapies to try and rehabilitate her kidneys. These treatments, which ultimately failed, came with significant side effects that caused an additional series of unfortunate events, on top of her kidney failure.
Due to all of this, Amy is unable to work for another few months as her body (and mind) continue to recover from all the trauma it has undergone in the past months. She has to continue dialysis and other life-sustaining therapies and medications as she now begins the journey of testing to become an organ transplant recipient.
Amy does not have any short or long term disability benefits through her employer and her EI sick benefits have now run out. She is without any income, on top of additional expenses from various appointments, medications, specialty foods etc.
Amy is compassionate, caring and oh so funny. She loves making others laugh and is quite good at it! She is truly a ray of light for many of us.
She is one of the strongest and most courageous people I know and it’s been inspiring to see her fighting through this illness with such determination. She’s never once lost her positive attitude, even when things have been really tough.
I know that many of us have been impacted by the rising costs of living and it can be hard to find extra funds to give. However, I truly believe that even a small donation can make a big difference in helping Amy. Every little bit counts, and I’m certain that Amy and her family will be grateful for any help we can provide.
If you’re able to donate to Amy’s Go Fund Me, I encourage you to do so. And if not, I would appreciate it if you could keep Amy in your thoughts and prayers during this time. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your kindness and support.
