Dunbar School of Dance Dance World Cup

Over the past 5 years we have been building and establishing a competition/performance team at Dunbar School of Dance, giving students a place to excel in dancing at a national level without having to take class at a school in the city. We are keen to help put Dunbar on the map, and we have many talented young girls, who will not only help us promote Dunbar, and our dance school, but also build their own resilience, confidence, posture and fitness. The lessons they will learn at our school, and through competitions will provide them with valuable life skills to see them into their bright futures, with or without dance.
We have 11 dancers aged between 9-16, who have spent the last 6 months preparing dances to enter the Dance World Cup taking place in Prague at the end of June/start of July 2024. Ember Quinn (9), Giulietta Bicocchi (9), Anna Hunter (10), Jessica Smith (10), Evelyn Jeffrey (10), Lilly Baillie (10), Aven Quinn (12), Anya Howat (14), Maresia Buchanan (14), Riya Anderson (15) Emma Cameron (16). The dancers attend up to 14 classes a week, whilst also preparing for entry into the Dance World Cup. We are delighted to announce that all 11 dancers have been successful in qualifying and are the first dancers from Dunbar to be part of Team Scotland. Our dancers qualified with 15 dances in total, 4 solos, 4 duets/trios and 7 group dances. Below is the link to the Dance World Cup website or have a search of their Instagram @Danceworldcup for more information.
Now that the girls have secured their places, the next stage on their journey is fundraising to support their attendance and any costumes needed. They have already secured a range of sponsors whose contributions have been gratefully received and which has helped provide funding towards their DWC kit and entry fees. They include Zenith, Unique, The Honeypot Crail, The Royal Mackintosh, GSB Solicitors, Edinburgh Honda Specialists, Spott Energy Services, Claremont Motors, Bielgrange LTD.
Over 120,000 competitors attend the Dance World Cup from 66 different countries. The competition is also broadcast online to hundreds of thousands of people. Any donation you are able to make, would be greatly received. This is the first dance school in Dunbar to venture to the Dance World Cup and we are so proud to be motivating and inspiring our dancers.
