Lily's Liver Shunt Surgery
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jessica, and I am fundraising for my little dog, Lily, who needs to have an emergency liver shunt surgery. I first adopted her mom, Daisy, last year from a puppy breeding mill where she lived outside a hoarding house with 30 other dogs. The man who operated the mill decided to "take the best" and abandoned the rest until neighbors heard the dogs and called in. Several NPOs arrived and took ten dogs each, and Daisy was part of the worst ten. At the time, she was malnourished and had most of her teeth extracted which were rotten from eating trash while trying to survive. No one knew Daisy was pregnant when she was rescued because she was so underweight that she didn't show.
The day I signed her adoption papers was when Daisy surprisingly went into labor and gave birth to one little girl in my bathroom!! No one knows how many puppies Daisy has given birth to and had taken away from her, so I decided to keep this puppy. I named her Lily, a white flower, to continue the floral theme. Pardon the expression, but I got two for the price of one!
Lily has been such a joy to everyone. She has a big, bubbly personality and is very sweet, insisting she shower you with kisses and affection. Her confidence has helped her mom, Daisy, emerge from her shell to see that the world doesn't always have to be scary.
She has been living an everyday puppy life, and we planned to celebrate her one-year birthday and Daisy's one-year adoption day. Unfortunately, Lily started to feel ill and was recently diagnosed with a liver shunt. She is currently being medically managed with a prescription diet and medications, but will need surgery to live. This type of surgery needs to be performed by a specialty hospital and will have to be hospitalized for several days. Once recovered and cleared by the Internal Medicine department, she can be expected to live a healthy life.
Lily's liver shunt surgery is estimated at $11,555.63. Luckily her insurance will cover most of the expenses, but I need to fundraise for my portion of $2,000. Her surgery is scheduled for next week and the hospital does not accept payment plans. If anyone can please contribute a part of the fees and share her donation page, I would be tremendously grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read Lily's story.
