Dustin Ferguson's Pitch for Recovery
Donation protected
On December 12th, Dustin Ferguson, a 19 year old freshman at McPherson College in Kansas was critically injured in a motor vehicle accident. Dustin had an emergency craniotomy and spent several days in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator, but has now been taken almost entirely off the ventilator and is showing signs of recovery. Dustin still has a long road of recovery in front of him, but with his determination, athleticism, and intelligence, Dustin is going to succeed. Dustin has been a role model for his 6 younger siblings, standing up for them at school, helping out at home, and showing through his efforts that hard work is rewarded. His life long dream has been to play baseball professionally, and he was recently accepted into the United States Air National Guard.
Dustin's father, Bob and step-mother Jessica work for the Department of Corrections in Colorado and have to drive 7 hours each way to visit Dustin at the hospital in Kansas. As correctional officers, they are not allowed to take weeks off at a time to be with their son, so they are forced to make this commute each weekend.
This GoFundMe is set up to help defray costs from the hospital bills, gas, mileage, hotels and inevitable rehab for Dustin. This process will be a challenging endeavor for Dustin and his entire extended family, but Dustin has shown time and again that he has the ability, drive and enthusiasm to make this pitch to a full recovery.
Thank you all in advance for your kindness, donations and love for such a wonderful young man.
