Last Friday, our lives changed in an instant. Dustin suffered a devastating blood clot that led to a stroke, and it came as a complete shock to all of us. Starr came home to find him unresponsive on the kitchen floor—a scene no one should ever have to witness. In those terrifying moments, she bravely performed CPR until the paramedics arrived, but despite their best efforts, Dustin was airlifted to the hospital, where he ultimately did not pull through.

The shock of losing someone so vibrant and full of life is almost unbearable. Dustin was not just a partner; he was a father, a friend, and a source of unwavering support for Starr and my grandchildren. They were a young family in their mid-40s, and like many, they were not prepared for the sudden and overwhelming burden that accompanies such a loss.

In the midst of this tragedy, I want to take a moment to share a beautiful part of Dustin's legacy. Even in his final moments, he demonstrated extraordinary kindness and generosity by choosing to donate his vital organs. Because of his selfless decision, five lives have been saved. This incredible act of love and compassion will forever shine a light on the impact he had on others, even in his passing. He is now resting with God, and we take solace in knowing that his spirit will continue to live on through those he saved.

But this immense loss has left Starr and the children not only heartbroken but also facing significant financial challenges. The unexpected expenses of funeral costs and the loss of their primary support system weigh heavily on their shoulders. They were a team, navigating life together, and now Starr must carry the burden alone, alongside her children, who are also grappling with the heartache of the loss.
