FINANCIAL MEDICAL ASSISTANCE NEEDED
18-years-ago my son was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, which destroyed his colon/large intestine. It was a medical emergency to remove the colon and other organs to save his life. Dustin spent nine months in Albany Medical Hospital recovering from this major surgery known as a “total colectomy” only to learn he also had Crohn’s Disease. This disabling disease has advanced throughout his GI system. Doctors have used modern medications such as chemotherapy, steroids, biological treatments, and others via IV infusions attempting to place this disease in remission. These medications, treatments, and medical necessities are ongoing and his medical insurance doesn’t cover a large part of the expenses, leaving him and his family in major debt and unsure of how they will pay for the expenses that have accumulated.
(Seen above: Dustin receiving a monoclonal chemotherapy infusion.)
One option was the use of medical cannabis, which was showing improvement in his pain and bathroom use in 2017. Unfortunately it’s not covered by insurance and runs roughly $500 a month, and is the reason Dustin has had to go without it.
Please feel free to contact me for any information regarding physicians, names, and phone numbers involved in Dustin’s disease and treatment.
Donations of any amount are truly appreciated.
Sincerely,
John LaValley
