Hello, my name is Michaela Coffing and I created this page for my brother and sister in law, Cody and Jessica Simons in support of their beautiful newborn son, Dutton Christopher Simons.

Dutton was born on the morning of May 17th in Missoula, MT. Dutton first began having issues eating, doctors then quickly realized he was also having complications breathing and thought it would be best for him to be moved to the NICU, where he has remained since being born.

Dutton was put on a feeding tube and oxygen to help him breathe while doctors began working to determine what was going on. After several tests and many visits from different specialists, the medical team now believes Dutton may suffer from a very rare genetic condition. Due to the rarity of this condition it will be difficult to find the right team of doctors to provide the level of care Dutton will need throughout his life.

In the coming weeks Dutton will have surgery to put in a gastrostomy tube so that he can finally go home. However, this is really just the beginning of many procedures, appointments, travel and equipment needed to provide him with quality of life and monitor his progress as he grows.

This fight is truly more than any one person or family can do alone. Donations collected here will go directly towards Duttons medical needs in the coming days, months and years. I will update this page as often as I can, please respect the family's privacy as they try and navigate through this difficult journey.
