Technology for Duveneck's Library
Donation protected
The Duveneck Library needs your help! For the past 5 or so years, I've been trying to secure funds to purchase laptops for the students to use in the library. For a variety of reasons, and after dicussing it with the Duveneck PTA, I've decided to create this campaign as a way to fund the purchase of 26 Chromebooks and a charging/security cart.
Please consider donating to help expand our already amazing library. Initially I had looked into MacBook Airs, but the cost was far to high! ($37,000.00) Not only are the Chromebooks more affordable ($9,000.00) but Google Drive has become a sort of 21st century 3-ring binder for older students. It continues to evolve and grow as an amazing collaborative tool for students and staff.
Ideally I would wrap up this drive by Winter Break, purchase the Chromebooks through the District and get them into students hands by spring. With your help, I can make it happen.

The Chromebooks will be used for a variety of activites that align with my Library Curriculum.
- Digital Citizenship and Online Safety lessons
- Access to the District funded online databases
- Classroom/Library connection via the Google Apps suite.
- Research and Information Literacy
- Aligning teaching with the new 2016 ITSE Standards for Students
- Having more than one computer available for students to search the online library catalog
- Access to EPIC!, a free for teachers online book service
I asked some 5th graders what Chromebooks in the library would mean to them and they gave me some awesome answers!
- Raz Kids and Science A-Z access
- Back up computers for a classroom if needed
- More creative Library Centers
- Coding
- Google Drive experience is necessary for Middle School and High School
- Schoology
Feel free to ask any questions if you see me on campus, or email me.
Thank you for considering making a donation…and here’s to a successful fund raiser!

(p.s. If we make it to $11,000.00 I plan to get some iPod Touches and iPads to use as cameras, QR code readers and robotics!)
