Lisa's Cancer Journey
Donation protected
As many of you know, my sister, Lisa, has been battling cancer, and throughout this battle, she has worked hard to continue doing what she loves the most--spending time with family and friends and working at Capitol City Produce while serving her customers on the Northshore. No matter what challenges this illness brought her way, she has always fought to continue doing what she loves for a company that has always supported her and the customers that she has grown to love so much. Over the course of this four year journey and through a few failed treatments, she always pushed herself to continue being a good mother, sister, daughter, and friend and to maintain her loyalty to her employer and customers.
Unfortunately, last week she found out that her recent treatments are no longer working, and her cancer has started to spread once again, causing a life-threatening blockage to her kidney. She will start a new treatment at MD Anderson this week with the hope that this will be the one that saves her life. This treatment will make her extremely ill, and in order to focus on treatment and getting better, she feels it is best for the company, her customers, and her health to take a step back from work, forcing her to step down from her position with Capitol City Produce.
Although this is very hard for her to do, we know this is the best decision for her continued health and wellbeing. Because this decision had to be made hastily and without time to properly prepare for and mitigate the effects of losing her income as the sole breadwinner of her household, she has found herself in a significant financial dilemma. In order to continue providing for her family, regularly traveling for treatment, and paying for the insurance she needs to continue her healing journey, she must find a way to supplement what little income she will now have from disability benefits and depleting her savings, retirement, and life insurance. We humbly ask for your help through a donation of any amount and/or by sharing this fundraiser with others. Thank you in advance for your thoughts, prayers, time, and assistance!
