A Heart for Cory

Donation protected
In 2012, Cory caught a virus that attacked his heart, and he was diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy. Essentially, his heart didn't pump as good as it should, and he went into heart failure. Dr Coletti, his cardiologist in Washington, implanted an internal defibrillator and placed him on special medicines to help improve the pumping function of his heart. These interventions did work and he was feeling much better. Cory longed to be back home, closer to family and friends, and to the slower paced life Wyoming has to offer, so he returned to heal.

For the past 6 years Cory has been well.  He works for a wonderful CPA firm in Casper.  He has been able to enjoy the great outdoors by golfing, hiking, going to concerts, and traveling. He became a member of the Casper Rotary and the Elks Club, and has been able to spend quality time with his friends and family. But most importantly, Cory also met his now fiancé, Heather, and they are engaged to be married!

In January of this year, Cory started to feel sick again, much like when he was first diagnosed. After being in and out of the hospital and doctors offices, he was recently life flighted to Salt Lake City, to Intermountain Healthcare Heart and Lung Center. Cory was told his heart isn't pumping as good again, and that he needs a heart transplant.  As hard as this information is to take in, him and Heather also got told they need to stay in Salt Lake while waiting for his new heart. After the transplant he will also have to live there for up to a year while he recovers. Due to the move and his health, Cory isn't able to work anymore.
Through all this, Cory has continued to smile, stayed positive, and kept his sense of humor. He is focused on his new journey and has his end goal to return to Wyoming, with its fresh air, open blue skies, the great outdoors, and the people he truly loves.

This GoFund me page has been set up to help with medical expenses, medications, transportation, and rent while living in Salt Lake. Anything will help. If you cannot give anything, please keep him in your prayers. I know he and Heather thank you for your love and support in this trying time for them.
