Willow's Road to Recovery

Willow Jerome

My name is Cole Mitchell, my cousin Sophie Jerome and I have started a fundraiser for our three year old cousin Willow Jerome and her parents.

Willow and her parents are enduring a tragic turn of events, just days ago at St. Paul Children’s Hospital, Willow was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor.  With your generosity and kindness we are hoping to help Willow and her parents recover and overcome her recent brain surgery that removed a large cancerous tumor from her head.  Willow is a kind, strong, friendly, adventurous, and playful three year old.  Willow is our youngest cousin and she truly is the sweetest little girl we have ever known.  We want to do everything possible to help Willow and her family get back to as normal a life as possible.

The story of Willow and her parents.

Jason and Keri Jerome are Willow’s parents, they live in St. Cloud, Minnesota.  Jason and Keri were both born and raised in central Minnesota and are hardworking people that lead a simple life, they provide Willow with a loving and nurturing home life.  Jason and Keri have been married for 17 years and spent many years hoping to complete their family with a child. They were blessed with Willow on October 24th, 2017.  Jason, Keri and Willow are supported by a wonderful close knit group of friends and a loving family.

Willow loves spending time playing her dogs, Kiki and Stella. Willow enjoys playing with any type of water, she just enjoyed her first adventurous fishing trip last summer in a boat. When Willow wants to relax she enjoys watching movies and shows that include Frozen, Moana and Tinkerbell.

The tragic turn events that Willow and her parents endured.

Monday, January 11th

Willow wasn’t feeling well and her parents brought her to the doctor where she was diagnosed with a simple ear infection.

Tuesday, January 12th

The following day Willow was unusually dizzy and unstable causing her parents, Jason and Keri, to bring her back into the clinic.  At this point the doctor said that it was most likely vertigo due to the ear infection.

Wednesday, January 13th

Willow’s symptoms continued to worsen and a CT scan was then scheduled for the following Friday.

Friday, January 15th

However, before the scheduled CT scan could occur Willow woke up experiencing slight paralysis on the left side of her body.  The CT scan performed at CDI showed a mass in Willow’s brain. She was immediately referred to the Saint Cloud Hospital ER.  Once Willow was at Saint Cloud Hospital ER, the decision was made that she needed to be transferred to the Children's Hospital in Saint Paul.  Air lift was scheduled via helicopter but was canceled due to weather conditions. Willow was then taken down to the children's hospital by ambulance. Treatment was started immediately. Willow's first surgery was performed that same evening, to relieve pressure from her brain.

Wednesday, January 20th

Willow underwent surgery for the removal of a brain tumor and cyst.

Friday, January 22nd

Willow's tumor was diagnosed cancerous.

Saturday, January 23rd

Willow's tumor was diagnosed as a grade III Ependymoma.
