Recovering Moving Fees

From My Shelf Books & Gifts is the only bookstore in three counties. We've been in business almost 9 years, but some people wanted to change that.
The landlord with whom we'd had a five+ year relationship filed an eviction notice in Oct. of 2012, soon after we'd moved into a new building with him. We fought for what we love. After an appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, we won the right to stay until the end of our 3-year lease. We have continued to make payments to the lawyer who helped us win that victory, and who advises us regarding the continuing conflicts that landlord tries to stir up.
Our lease expired March 31, 2015. Don't worry; we've found a new home at 7 East Ave! New landlord, new location, new neighbors! We're now situated between Huffman's Office Products and Under the Sea Pets. Moving a bookstore is expensive, even with the help of a lot of friends, and even though we did it on a shoestring.
The move was only possible with a lot of help from our community, and we want to thank everyone who took time to help us. Some people brought a car; some people labelled boxes; some people built shelves. Friends cheered us on and brought snacks. Many have made it a point to find us in our new spot, and to spread the word about our new location. We thank you!
We continue to offer a lot of free events. We host author's visits, a monthly teen book club, a monthly writers' group, and several book-themed parties and town scavenger hunts throughout the year.
We want to be able to keep offering these events and many more, and keep this bookstore open -- for our rural community, and for all the visitors who enjoy it each year. We'd appreciate your help in recovering from this forced move.
