Dwane Smith Cancer Treatment & Living Expenses

Hi. My name is Greg Smith, better known by my professional wrestling persona, Gregory Iron.

After some discussions with my brothers, Mike Smith and Zach Thomas -- as well as some advice and an outpouring of love from friends, family, and social media -- we have created this Go Fund Me to help our father, Dwane Smith, pay for medical expenses and an upcoming biopsy.

On Sunday, July 24th my dad was taken to the emergency room after calling my brother Mike crying, saying that his left arm had been numb for a week and that he was repeatedly dropping items over the previous 7 days due to weakness in his hand.

Upon arriving to the hospital doctors determined that my dad had suffered a stroke. On top of the weakness on his left side he experienced a facial droop on his left side and has been struggling to keep liquids and food from falling from his mouth.

After running some tests and scans, doctors determined that dad had a mass on his lung and brain, with the brain mass being 4 cm in size.

Dad is scheduled to get a biopsy on August 18th to figure out what exactly is on his brain and lung. However, my dad's job doesn't offer insurance.

The biopsy, without insurance, will cost roughly $20,000. Up front to ensure that it gets done on the 18th, we'll need roughly $4,700. This doesn't include medical expenses from the last week he spent in the ER at Parma UH. He is currently at home and I have moved in with him, along with Zach in an effort to eliminate some of his physical & mental stresses, with Mike staying over as much as he can.

Going forward, the plan that we are trying to get going is as follows: my dad is going to be laid off from his job and get unemployment, as he currently makes too much money to qualify for insurance. From my understanding, if he can be approved for health insurance it wouldn't be active until one month after his unemployment kicks in -- whenever that is approved. So whatever comes of the biopsy, hopefully his future medical fees will be covered.

With your support, we can raise the money necessary to get the biopsy and figure out just what exactly is wrong with him. After that, it is our hope that we'll have healthcare to eliminate any financial problems going forward.
