Dwayne and Elisabeth

Donation protected
My name is Courtlyn, and I have created this Go Fund Me page for Dwyane and Elisabeth Williams. They are the parents of two beautiful children, Kinsleigh (1) and Weston (3 weeks). Dwayne is currently at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, fighting for his life. He began feeling sick yesterday and presented to the ER where he quickly declined. Dwayne is on a ventilator fighting double pneumonia, among MANY other issues. Although Dwayne is the sole provider for his family, he is uninsured. Elisabeth is highly overwhelmed with a toddler and newborn, and I would like "money" to be the least of her worries. If you are unable to donate, please lift them up in prayer.

Update: 5/27/22: Dwayne remains intubated at this time. Please pray for his lungs and heart to strengthen. Please remember Liz as she sits by his side day in and day out. Please remember Shelly, as she takes care of Kinsleigh and Weston.

Update: 5/29/22: Yesterday, they attempted a wake trial on Dwayne. He failed. They will continue to try. His lungs and heart are very weak. He is still ventilated. We appreciate all prayers and donations that they have received this far.

Update: 5/31/22: Yesterday he had a good day, other than becoming septic.  He passed his wake trial yesterday, they only had him on Valium and seroquel so he could even communicate to some degree. Though his vent setting were still at 60% 10 peep. They planned to try another this morning and if he passed it they planned to extubate him on Wednesday. This morning, failed his wake trial, secretions have increased, he only lasted 2 minutes, and he is back fully sedated and vent settings back at 100%. It’s crazy, last night he would open his eye and wave at the babies. This morning, this.

Update 6/1/22: This family is in desperate need of prayers and answers. Dwayne failed his wake trial again today. His lungs and heart are getting weaker. A new doctor will began on his case tomorrow. We know that the LORD heals the hearts of the broken hearted and we are trusting in him that HIS will, will be done. There’s really no new update other than this.

Update 6/2/22: Today we have made progress by leaps and bounds! After yesterdays failed attempt at a wake trial, Elisabeth requested a new Dr, she just didn’t feel as though the dr he had was listening to her concerns. Thankfully Dwaynes care was then placed with an intinsivist who with careful consideration was able to make baby steps to improvements on his behalf. Shelly was also made aware that her friend worked in the unit and asked if she could be his nurse and could advocate on his behalf and she did just that. She is officially our hero! ❤️ (we love you Erica)!!! After some research, collaboration, and some changes, Dwayne has been extubated, for now, and is maintaining on high flow 02, this is a very fragile time for him and he has to be able to maintain and show improvements so there are no set backs. He is some what able to communicate and will not let Liz leave his side! Emotions are high, and recovery will be long and hard, but right now we all are so thankful to see God’s hand in all this! We see what God can do and has already done, and so we trust Him to carry them the rest of the way! Keep the prayers coming, God is working!

Uodate: 6/5/22: First and foremost, I’d like to personally thank every single person who has donated and prayed for Dwayne and family. They have felt every prayer and Jesus has answered them. Dwayne still remains extubated. He is alert and talking. He remains on oxygen via nasal cannula at 4L as of this morning. This is a HUGE improvement. Although he is doing much better, he still isn’t out of the woods and they do still need prayers. Physical Therapy, Cardiology, and Pulmonology will continue to follow him inpatient and outpatient once he gets to be discharged. His lungs and heart still have ways to go to be back to “normal”. You all have helped take a huge burden off of Elisabeth and Shelly by all of your donations. I can’t say thank you enough. Please keep praying for them.
