In Memory of Dwayne Flodell: support for Leia Flodell
Donation protected
We are heartbroken to share that Dwayne Gerald Flodell passed away on January 8, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer over the past year. His absence will be felt deeply by his family and all who were fortunate to have known him.
Dwayne leaves behind his spouse, Brandy Thompson and their daughter Leia, age 8. He is also survived by his daughters Britney (Tristan), Emily (Shane), Stephanie, Olivia, and his granddaughter Amelia. His mother Linda (Cecil), two sisters and one brother. His in-laws, Kevin and Teena Thompson, his brother in-law Brett (Katie), his nephews and niece and so many more who loved him dearly.
Dwayne spent his life surrounded by music, cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles and boats. He worked as an autobody technician and painter by trade, built custom cars and motorcycles, and shared his wealth of knowledge with everyone he met along the way. When he wasn’t working on a project for someone else, he could be found playing guitar, working on his own cars, socializing at the drag strip, racing dirt bikes at the motocross track, snowmobiling in the mountains, fishing on one of the many boats he owned, or racing R/C cars. Dwayne spared no effort in everything he did, and it showed. He had so many circles of friends who we are so grateful to be able to consider family.
In more recent years when Dwayne and Brandy moved to an acreage near Sundre, he renewed his love of hunting and skeet shooting. Dwayne was willing to share his hunting experiences with anyone who expressed interest in going with him, and especially his nephews Kayden and Ashton. Even when they came home empty handed, they were all just as excited to go out the next weekend and try again.
In keeping with Dwayne’s wishes, no formal service will be held, and his ashes will be scattered at his favourite hunting spot. We invite you to privately celebrate Dwayne’s memory in your own way.
This trust has been set up for Leia's future education and we thank you for your kindness and support.
“May the good Lord be with you, Down every road you roam, And may sunshine and happiness, Surround you when you're far from home, And may you grow to be proud, Dignified and true, And do unto others, As you'd have done to you.
Be courageous and be brave, And in my heart you'll always stay, Forever young, forever young, May good fortune be with you, May your guiding light be strong, Build a stairway to Heaven, With a prince or a vagabond.
And may you never love in vain, And in my heart you will remain, Forever young.
And when you finally fly away, I'll be hoping that I served you well, For all the wisdom of a lifetime, No one can ever tell, But whatever road you choose, I'm right behind you, win or lose, Forever young, forever young”
“A life well-lived is a precious gift, of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place. It’s filled with moments of sweet and sad, with smiles and sometimes tears, with friendships formed and good times shared, and laughter through the years. A life well-lived is a legacy, of joy and pride and pleasure, a living, lasting memory our grateful hearts will treasure.”
