Brave Ollie

Something wasn’t right. Their usually happy, energetic and fun loving boy was feverish, lethargic and after 3 weeks of ongoing deterioration, unable to walk.
In late October 2024, Chris and Lada, two of our best friends, received the devastating news that their darling boy, Ollie, aged 3, had been diagnosed with leukaemia, a type of blood cancer.
Six weeks on and the reality of this shattering news is still sinking in.
Ollie is immunocompromised and unable to attend the preschool he loves so much. Weeks in hospital for testing and procedures, the start of regular, gruelling chemotherapy and weekly visits to hospital as well as emergency visits are just part of the difficult two year plan that will hopefully cure Ollie and give him the best chance of a healthy, happy life.
The mental load, emotional anguish and physical demands of caring for Ollie and his baby brother Beau requires a team effort. Lada has put her new business on hold and Chris is supporting his wife and boys at home.
We wish there was more we could do to help. And we know we are not alone in wanting to support our dear friends in what will undoubtedly be the most difficult chapter of their lives.
So, we have set up this GoFundMe, with Chris and Lada’s permission and gratitude, to help relieve the additional worry that financial stress has placed on this beautiful family. We hope that with this assistance they can focus on supporting each other and Ollie without worrying about money.
Funds will be used for delivered meals, childcare for Beau when Ollie is in hospital, transport and parking at Randwick Children’s Hospital, costs associated with removing mould in their rental apartment, (including having to replace furniture) to protect Ollie’s immune system from spores and mould related illness and the ongoing medical costs associated with Ollie’s treatment.
Ollie is an amazing, smart and very gentle little boy who loves painting, Lego, going to the beach and especially his baby brother Beau. He is exceptionally brave in the face of something a three year old should never have to experience.
Christmas is a time of giving. Please consider contributing whatever you can to assist in making the road ahead a little easier for this family. With your support we can help them find their feet and focus on what matters most: loving, caring and enduring this journey for Ollie, together.
