I’m not entirely sure how to start this. But uh.  Sorry ma, we need help! (She’s not going to be happy that I decided to do this)

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my family, how much they mean to me, and how I would do absolutely anything for them. I am completely helpless and hopeless and my heart is hurting because we’re in the middle of a mess that I cannot fix.

As my father passed away almost 5 years ago- my mother became a single mom- a single mortgage holder- and literally Wonder Woman.

This year alone, both my brother and I have been in the hospital, those hospital bills are adding up, my mom had to refinance her house again to stay afloat, ALL as my baby sister starts her first year of college (at Molloy, for nursing, proud sister brag). Not to mention we’re in the middle of a pandemic.
This year has been so challenging for everyone. I know we all feel like we’re in the middle of a twilight zone.

My family needs help. Here’s why:

Thursday, September 3rd. My mom called me to let me know that there was a bad oil leak at her house. She said “It’s a nightmare. Disaster”.
She was scared, nearly inconsolable and couldn’t even talk to me. I thought I was gonna be sick.

Here’s what we know: last Monday, there was no hot water.
Someone came to check it out.
By Wednesday- the house and the yard smelled like oil.
By Thursday- they could visibly see the oil pooling in the yard.
Somehow, the underground line from the oil tank to the oil burner inside her house, began to leak, into the ground.

Homeowners insurance doesn’t cover this type of incident.

Regardless of fault- we need help!
The excavation and cleanup is going to cost thousands.
This process is most likely going to take years, our poor dog can’t play outside, and frankly, we don’t have any funds to foot the bill.

I am asking all friends and family to contribute. I’m just a young social worker who can usually problem solve- and this is one way I can try.

It is such a beautiful thing to watch people and communities come together and I hope if you’ve read this far you have it in your heart to share with us anything you can- large or small

Anything you can donate is SO greatly appreciated.

& please if nothing else, share share share!
