I need to begin this with your understanding that I am in a continued state of shock, complete confusion, and overwhelming heartbreak. As most of you already know I lost my best friend, my rock, and my strength and my mom lost her best friend and rock of over 39 years. As the fog has kind of started to clear and the reality of what’s to come for mom and I, I have a very big favor to ask of you.

To an extent of which my mom did not fully grasp until after his passing, my dad had accrued an overwhelming amount of debt. We have recently been told that he declined survivor benefits for my mom when he retired from the Army in ‘95 so she will no longer be receiving his retirement check or his VA disability payments. I ask this with no disrespect to my father because over the last few months his mental and physical condition were beyond control, even after multiple cries for help through the VA.

I am experiencing a brutal internal struggle as I ask for your help. I have no other approach at helping take care of my mom as we figure this out together. I’m not even sure how to verbalize this ask in a way that doesn’t shatter my pride or bring shame but we need your help. Any financial assistance that you can provide or even a share of this outreach to your family and friends will be more appreciated than I can even express. Thank you
