Dy's Douangkeo Family
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
Our hearts are broken to share this news. A hate crime has taken away our kind friend, son, brother, and father from us unfairly, and too soon. Dy Douangkeo leaves behind a grieving family and community but most devastating, he leaves behind two young boys who haven't even learned where people go when they die. Danien, 7, and Adrian, 5, will have to grow up without knowing their caring father.
Side Note: Please keep in mind that the MPD are doing their best to solve this case and we are very grateful for their work. Our goal is to help them as much as we can with the case and provide Dy's side of the story.
The story you are about to read is from our family from what Dy told us right before he passed.
Dy died the morning of Sunday, March 15th and we believe his death was due to foul play. The investigation is still ongoing and we just want justice for his sudden and unfair death. We have limited time and resources to conduct a private forensic autopsy to determine the real cause of death and we need the community's help to do this. Please find it in your hearts to help. Your donations will go towards helping his family through this difficult time.
Our story from Dy before he passed... On the morning of Sunday, March 15th, Dy was on the way back from picking up his truck from his brother's house but he was stopped by his neighbor. Dy got out of his car to see what was going on and why the guy was provoking him.
Dy said there was a guy new to the neighborhood who provoked him while he was driving home to his house. As a result of the altercation, he was bitten and struck from behind. He left the scene to return home. He told his mom about the incident and told her and his kids that he loved them, as if he knew he wasn't going to make it. He left the house to go back to his brother's house to tell his brother about the incident. Dy kept saying he didn't understand why they had hate for him and why they were attacking him when he didn't even know them.
As he was telling his story, Dy started to feel dizzy and had difficulty breathing. He told his brother he didn't feel well before losing consciousness. His brother tried to wake him up but he was unresponsive so his brother called the paramedics but had to wait 30 minutes for them to arrive. We believe Dy went into cardiac arrest because of this altercation and his brother tried to perform CPR until the paramedics arrived. But when the paramedics arrived to try to revive him, it was too late.
Dy is the kindest, sweetest person anyone would meet. He was always making sure everyone was fed. We know in our hearts he would never start an altercation like this and we believe this was all due to hate. We just want the truth to be known and justice for our friend. We need everyone's help to prove that there is still justice in this world by helping his family find closure with his death.
