Dylan Morrison ROAD 2 RECOVERY
Donation protected
Dylan Morrison, 21 years old is a professional scooter rider from Melbourne, AUS. "I’ve grown up travelling and competing in events all over the world and hopefully inspiring kids everywhere to be the best version of themselves!"
Dylan sustained an injury to his foot while riding on December 6. X-rays revealed no fracture and he was told to rest and it should get better.
Fast-forward 7 weeks and Dylan is still in considerable pain so we seek further advice from a Melbourne Orthopedic surgeon and foot specialist. Diagnosis is a tear of the lisfranc ligament, which is essentially the stabiliser for the foot. Apparently this is often a difficult injury to diagnose and can be mistaken for less severe conditions. Untreated or treated conservatively could be a career-ender for a professional athlete. Surgery was the only course of action, and given 8 weeks had already transpired, it was scheduled for this week.
Happy to report it was a complete success! He is so lucky to have found a doctor with the knowledge and surgical skills required to fix him up so he can continue doing what he is meant to do.
Normally we would go through the public health system, but the long wait times would have created complications too serious, and greatly reduce or most likely eliminate the chance for a complete and straightforward recovery.
Through your generosity we are hoping to pay the outstanding costs for the hospital and surgeon's fees, anesthetist, physical therapy and rehabilitation costs.
Thank you so much for helping us so we can face the road to recovery ahead!
